The Powder Highway Tour continues to the East Kootenays. This area offers spectacular (and easy) day touring options but unfortunately we couldn’t explore as much as intended due to a lack of recent snowfall – wind hammered and sun affected surfaces weren’t appealing at all.
We made our way to Nelson, B.C. (named best ski town in North America alongside Rossland) for a quick ski at Whitewater Resort and by that afternoon Revelstoke had beckoned us with its anticipated dump of snow overnight. We got what we wanted..and then some.
Days 5 – 7 (Nelson to Revelstoke)
Cool for the camera. But less than ideal skiing conditions in the East Kootenays
Considered our options of different aspects. Unfortunately, we didn’t get too far.
Skiing in Whitewater Ski Resort, Nelson BC. If it can’t be Champagne powder, it has to be Champagne groomers.
A proper way to start the day at Whitewater Ski Resort.
Lift to lift to lift with no line ups. Definitely a local mountain feel at this resort.
The charms of downtown Nelson, BC. With a snowy forecast ahead, we decided to make the 3.5 hour drive to Revelstoke.
Working on the rally car skills – no plow for almost 100km turned this to a 5 hour drive.
Snow was dumping, cars were sliding, and we were in the midst of it all.
What we came for! Powder day at Revelstoke Mountain. It was glorious! And we were too busy skiing to take any more photographs. Oops.
