We’ve been working long and hard on developing a ski map for the Coquihalla region. This map is not intended to replace a topographic map, but to supply you with some additional information that has taken us years to collect. I recognize many people will love it. I know many people will hate it because it seems we’re exposing secrets of the area. This is the new reality of ski touring; it is no longer a fringe sport and the thirst for information is none other than growing. Rather than have people enter the backcountry blindly, hopefully this resource will offer some knowledge for out-of-town visitors and those looking to expand their horizons.
Before you take this map and go…
If you’re new to the backcountry, we cannot stress enough about the importance of proper education. Take an avalanche course and begin to learn safe travel in the mountains. Seek more experienced partners who can mentor you in the wonderful journey through the mountains. More importantly, hire a guide if you want to learn properly. Their expertise and knowledge can pay major dividends for your enjoyment of the mountains.
Want to contribute?
This map contains a number of photos of the highlighted areas and routes, but I am always looking for more. Below are all photos contained within the map. If you have any photos you wish to donate, please feel free to get in touch with us. A number of hazards are also noted and to be wary of. This is by no means an exhaustive list and it will continue to evolve as I collect more photos. Remember you are responsible for your own actions and safety in the backcountry.
